The Colorado Saddlebred Breeders Futurity is going through some exciting changes in the up coming years! You will notice immediately that the futurity is now being run by the Colorado American Saddlebred Horse Association. Any payments to the futurity should now be made to CASHA and any correspondence should be sent to Stacey Kipper at 7033 South Versailles Street, Aurora, Colorado 80016.
In the next few years the futurity will be changing the way it is organized to reflect changes in breeding in Colorado. New weanlings will be eligible for this years weanling classes and, if kept up in nomination, will be eligible for the yearling classes next year. Beginning in 2012 the Colorado Futurity will start a stand-alone 2 year old in hand class. This class will have a $100 entry fee and horses will NOT have to be nominated as weanlings and yearlings to participate. Monies in this class will be kept separate and distributed among winners. Points for winners in this class will still count as futurity points toward their respective Saddlebred sires. Beginning in 2013 the Colorado Futurity will start a stand-alone 3 year old under saddle class. This class will have also a $100 entry fee and horses will NOT have to be nominated as weanlings, yearlings, or two year olds to participate. Monies in this class will be kept separate and distributed among winners. Points for winners in this class will still count as futurity points toward their respective Saddlebred sires.
If you currently own a futurity nominated foal/horse (nominated as a weanling in 2009 or earlier), if kept up in nomination, your foal/horse can still show through its 3 year old year under the same program as in years past. New nominations are the only foals affected by this change. Below is a link to the grid outlining the changes and payment due dates.
