Denver Queen City Horse Show Is Expanding in 2010!

The Denver Queen City Horse Show (DQCHS) is expanding in 2010! This year the horse show will hold the Colorado Saddlebred State Championships and the Centennial State Regional Championship Peruvian Horse Show. DQCHS is in its 42nd year and is located at the National Western Events Center, 1515 East 47th Avenue, Denver, CO. It will be held July 22-24, 2009 and entries close on June 25, 2010. The horse show offers two show performances daily at 10:00 am and 6:00 pm and last approximately 3 hours each. The horse show attracts approximately 100-150 World Class American Saddlebred Horses, Peruvian, Arabians, Morgans, Hackney Ponies, and various other breeds. Thursday and Friday nights will open with a grand entry presentation by the Westernaires and Saturday night will open with a demonstration from Praying Hands Ranch (a therapeutic riding school for the handicapped). All special presentations start at 6:00 pm.

The horse show will also hold a UPHA Championship Night where all classes Saturday night will be held in honor of the Susan G Komen for the Cure Foundation. Celebrants will be honored in center ring during the ASB Five Gaited Amateur Championship. Many Pink Ribbon items will be sold during the show, including car magnets, lapel pins, and hats, with the proceeds to benefit the Susan G Komen Foundation for the Cure and the United Professional Horseman's Association. All exhibitors and spectators are encouraged to wear pink for Saturday night's performance which starts at 6:00 pm.

The 42nd Denver Queen City Horse Show is a United States Equestrian Federation "A" rated show, featuring the Colorado American Saddlebred State Championships, Colorado American Saddlebred Futurity, Centennial State Regional Championship Peruvian Horse Show, offering 2 Grand National Classes (Yearling Open with $2,400 in added money and one class TBD), plus awarding over $5,000.00 in total prize money.

Friday night features the biggest horse show party of the summer. A grand dinner is sponsored by Parker Valley Farms. Entertainment is provided by the Colorado American Saddlebred Horse Association. The Colorado Saddlebred youth group, the High Steppers, will be selling Bean Bag Animals at the show for the Zoolander contest for participants to win fabulous prizes!! It's the most fun you'll have all summer!!

Additional cash prizes will be awarded to trainers that bring horses to the horse show! Cash awards include $250 to the trainer who makes the longest drive to the show, $250 to the trainer who wins the most blue ribbons at the show, and $250 to the trainer who brings the most horses to the show. Additionally, a name will be drawn each night following the evening performance for a $50 cash prize. All horse show participants are eligible to win.

Proceeds from the show itself benefit Praying Hands Ranch. Each year the horse show is able to make a substantial contribution to our benefactor. Praying Hands Ranch is a local horseback riding facility for handicapped individuals, located in Parker, Colorado. The facility runs at little or not cost to its patrons to help the individual connect with an animal. It also aids the riders with their motor skills. The improvement made by those who participate in this program is unbelievable! Just seeing the joy on the faces of the children and adults is heartwarming. On championship night at the Denver Queen City Horse Show, Praying Hands Ranch completes a 30 minute exhibition for their riders to show what they have learned and how well they handle the horses. There is usually not a dry eye in the house at the completion of their exhibition. This year the exhibition will be conducted on Saturday, July 24th at 6:00 pm.

Come and join us in the beautiful state of Colorado for a vacation AND a horse show! Colorado offers many wonderful vacation opportunities! We hope to see you at the show!
